Every month the company that manufacturers Quickbooks Financial Software, Intuit, is giving out a $25,000 business grant to companies who have the most support from their customers and fans. As a small US manufacturing company ourselves we decided to give it a shot and nominated RocLok Hide a Key, Inc.
Receiving this grant would mean a lot to our company. It’s not easy to get a new unknown product out into the world especially in today’s weary economy. We struggle daily with creating a buzz with limited resources and competing with the big guys is simply out of the question. Over the last 4 years we’ve continually made strides in gaining momentum but it has been a slow and financially painfull process. $25,000 would go a long way to help put our efforts into high gear.
Unlike a lot of new product start ups these days, we refuse to sell out by having our products made overseas in the name of a quick buck. We take pride in growing a safety product manufacturing business that some day we hope will employ hundreds if not thousands of hard working people in the country we are proud to call home. However, our stubborness is not without consequences. While the Snuggie and ShamWow, both manufactured overseas for pennies on the dollar, have made millions we still are struggling to keep the lights on and our products launched around the same time.
This grant not only gives $25,000 to a lucky company it helps their buisness gain much needed exposure that in and of itself is invaluable. Without people knowing that the RocLok exists its impossible to drive sales to our product. Even if we landed a huge account with Lowes Home Improvement or the Home Depot tomorrow, if no one knows what a RocLok Hide a Key is, the chance that a customer will buy a rock on a shelf for $65 is slim.
